Role Overview: Reporting to the COO - One Dragon Services, the Financial Controller will have a strong background in Finance to perform and coordinate the financial accounting duties for the firm’s portfolio companies. This leadership position will also be responsible for overseeing a small but growing global team, managing key functions, and ensuring consistent application of financial strategies across our growing portfolio.
The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strong financial analysis capabilities, and experience within the Financial Services Industry. Prior experience working in the private equity or investment space is advantageous. As part of an operationally led firm, you will contribute to the overall financial health of our portfolio companies while assisting with key financial reporting, accounting, and tax-related functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio companies, guiding them in financial standards and best practices.
- Manage a small team of analysts and finance specialists.
- Conduct technical accounting research and ensure appropriate application to funds and underlying investments.
- Update all required schedules for maintaining the balance sheet, complete bank, and accounts receivable reconciliations.
- Review all inter-company transactions, generating appropriate actions and invoices as necessary.
- Prepare, analyze and interpret the general ledger and corresponding financial statements in accordance funds’ requirements, policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for portfolio companies, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other relevant regulations.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the financial health and growth of portfolio companies.
- Provide financial analysis and reporting to support and influence strategic decision-making by executives and senior management.
- Build and manage relationships for all internal and external collaborators, and portfolio company executive team. Ability to coordinate and respond to ad hoc executive and board inquiries.
- Maintain systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying, and reporting information.
- Assist with audit preparations by providing necessary documentation and supporting all audit processes.
Qualifications Required:
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in the Financial Services Industry; experience in the operational side of private equity or investment sectors is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Solid understanding of GAAP and experience with financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong knowledge of financial software and systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Excel)
- Familiarity with Revenue Recognition for Software and SaaS (ASC 606)
- Experience with tax rules and compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across teams and with external stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical abilities and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
- Experience managing and/or working with global teams.
Location: Remote. Minimal travel, up to 10% may be required.
