We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled News Writer & Assistant Editor to join our team. This is a fully remote position focused on covering daily news topics in a specific business niche for a well-established website and magazine. This is a text-based journalism role. No video or multimedia editing is required.

The role combines fast, accurate news writing with longer-form investigative storytelling, offering growth opportunities in editorial management and special projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Daily Reporting
    • Write and deliver 4 to 5 short-form news stories per day based on incoming news.
    • Ensure fast turnaround and accuracy under tight deadlines.
  2. Investigative & Feature Writing
  3. Editing & Quality Control
    • Conduct ongoing editorial work such as proofreading and editing to ensure high-quality content.
    • Maintain a clear, concise, and engaging writing style tailored to an expert audience.
  4. Editorial Strategy & Alignment
    • Work directly with the Managing Director to align content with editorial objectives.
    • Stay informed on industry trends to contribute fresh ideas.
Work Environment
  • Fully remote position.
  • Initial hours: 7 a.m. - 3 p.m. EST (can adjust earlier if needed).
  • Reports directly to the Managing Director with significant one-on-one collaboration.
  • Minimal teamwork - Ideal for independent, self-motivated professionals.
Qualifications & SkillsMust Have:
  • Minimum 2 years of professional journalism experience in English (writing & reporting).
  • Ability to write quickly and error-free under tight deadlines.
  • Strong research & investigative skills for feature stories.
  • Excellent written and conversational English.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a remote, small-team environment.
  • Proficiency in digital tools (Slack, Microsoft 365).
Not required:
  • Video editing, photography, multimedia production.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Fully remote role with contractor modality.
  • Salary: $20K - $25K annually (depending on experience).
