Senior Manager of Engineering
Job Summary: The Senior Manager of Engineering and Research & Technology is responsible for the leadership and motivation of the engineering team; the development of competent technological and engineering solutions; the effective planning and scheduling of activities and resources; identification and effective management of Sub-Contractors; and the management of Client Expectations and ongoing Client relationships. The Senior Manager of Engineering and R&T is expected to achieve business goals, project profits, and department targets. The Senior Manager plays a key role in the strategy development for key project proposals to prospective clients.
Responsibilities:
- Set goals and objectives for Engineering Department, Research & Technology, and Process Improvement.
- Ensure Areas of Responsibility meet goals and objectives by helping to identify and coordinate tools, resources, and training as needed.
- Ensure that appropriately skilled resources are provided to enable engineering support and training support in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide technical management and leadership to engineering managers.
- Actively participate in business and strategic planning and provide business technology roadmaps.
- Interface with Parent Company on joint strategies, common tools and Research and Technology projects.
- Perform individual assignments as directed; establish and maintain effective work relationships within the department and the surrounding community.
- Maintain the professional competence, knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- Perform those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the department, including organization goals and objectives, planning, organizing, integrating, and measuring the work performed within the department.
- Interface with all other departments in a cooperative way to ensure that all the company objectives are met.
- Manage and oversee the Test Development and Support group to provide efficient and cost-effective solutions for product testing and life cycle management.
- Overall responsibility for technical development, systems design and architecture, and managing engineering group operations.
- Build and inspire a team of talented individuals.
- Participate in contract negotiations and maintenance of ongoing relationships with a variety of vendors.
- Serve as a strong technical resource for general product development, product improvement, and project management.
- Effectively apply and maintain our methodology and operational procedures and enforce required project and aerospace standards.
- Minimize exposure and risk on projects.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and managed appropriately.
- Forecast engineering load and recruit and hire staff as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering; Advanced Degree is an asset (Masters, MBA, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years leading groups.
