About the Role
Our client is looking for a talented and experienced Senior Environment Artist to join their creative team in Sandton. This hybrid role involves crafting immersive and visually stunning game environments that captivate players. You will be responsible for creating 3D assets, level blockouts, and final environment art, working closely with level designers and art directors to realize the game's world. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to contribute to visually rich projects, pushing the boundaries of environmental storytelling and artistic quality within a dynamic studio setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including props, structures, and terrain.
- Assemble and dress game levels, ensuring compelling composition, lighting, and atmosphere.
- Collaborate with level designers to block out and iterate on level layouts.
- Develop and implement textures, materials, and shaders for environmental elements.
- Optimize environment assets for performance and memory usage across target platforms.
- Maintain consistency in art style and quality throughout the game world.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional experience as an Environment Artist in the game industry.
- A strong portfolio showcasing impressive environmental art for games, with a focus on realism or stylized aesthetics.
- Proficiency in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, Substance Painter).
- Experience with game engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity, including level assembly and lighting.
- Understanding of architecture, landscape design, and natural forms.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and provide constructive feedback.
