Glencore, a leading global commodity trading and mining company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our team in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The opportunity:
The Senior Compliance Officer will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring our Argentinian company's (Pachon and MARA) adherence to local and international regulatory standards, as well as promoting a culture of compliance within the organization. This role is critical in maintaining our commitment to ethical business practices and risk mitigation.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Manage the maintenance, update, enhancement, and creation of Policies, Standards, Procedures, and Guidelines (PSPG), accompanying manuals, and corresponding training and awareness materials.
  2. Coordinate and provide trainings for employees as needed.
  3. Provide advisory services on a variety of topics and risks (e.g. Gifts & Entertainment, Communications with Public Officials).
  4. Coordinate with RCOs on the management of the Company's Business Partner Management Program, including KYC, Third Party Due Diligence, and Third-Party Payments.
  5. Act as the local point of contact for Subject Matter Experts, especially with regard to Governmental Affairs, Anti-Corruption, and Market Conduct.
  6. Performance of risk assessments or local impact assessments.
  7. Support on the various compliance projects and enquiries.
  8. Reporting and audit requests, among others.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Educational Background: A bachelor's degree or higher in a field related to law, auditing, risk management, or a similar discipline.
  2. Professional Experience: A minimum of 6 years of relevant compliance experience in a similar role, preferably within the context of an international corporation or a company involved in commodity trading or production. Basic understanding of accounting and financial controls to prevent fraud is a plus.
  3. Language Proficiency: Fluent in English and Spanish, with proficiency in any additional language considered a valuable asset.
  4. Commodities Industry Knowledge: Demonstrated general knowledge and understanding of the commodities industry, including its unique dynamics and challenges.
  5. Compliance Expertise: Strong familiarity with compliance issues, particularly in areas related to anti-corruption and sanctions, and a proven ability to address these concerns effectively. Strong knowledge of compliance programmes with focus on FCPA and UKBA.
  6. Personal Attributes: Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and a dedicated team player who can work effectively with others. Possesses an independent and flexible work attitude, excels under pressure, and approaches challenges with a problem-solving mindset.
  7. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling clear and effective interaction with various stakeholders. Ability to engage effectively on complex matters with stakeholders of various seniority levels.
  8. International Mobility: Willingness and ability to work locally and internationally (travel on short notice and for up to two weeks at a time) and adapt to varying regional compliance requirements and regulations.
