Position Title: Network Administrator

REPORTS TO: Chief Information Officer

SUPERVISES: N/A

JOB STATUS: Exempt

JOB GRADE 11: $54,560.88 thru $68,201.10 Targeted Salary Rate

*This position works on-site. Remote work is not available at this time.

**Cisco or Fortinet network and configuration experience preferred**

JOB SUMMARY:

This employee is responsible for installing, supporting, and managing the company's networking and telephony communication systems, including branch communications, Internet communications, and other network devices. This employee also assists the Information Security, Service Desk, and System Administration teams as needed.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Purchase and install new networking equipment as directed.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize communications systems to ensure reliable, dependable communication with Members, between branch locations, and to cloud systems.
  • Collaborate and bring network expertise to projects involving both network and systems aspects, such as server upgrades, data migrations, or security patches.
  • Manage, maintain, and monitor network and telephony connectivity to ensure reliable and effective communication.
  • Create and maintain accurate network documentation, including relevant procedures, policies, and similar.
  • Provide reports and updates on network performance, system outages, and maintenance activities to management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, issues, and resolutions.
  • Ensure all network equipment and communication software is properly licensed.
  • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, and encryption protocols.
  • Support the Information Security team in ensuring safe and secure communication channels. Implement fixes and updates as needed to support a secure environment.
  • Research the latest developments in network security, including new vulnerabilities, attack methods, and emerging technologies.
  • Proactively recommend and implement updates to network security policies and practices in response to industry trends and newly discovered vulnerabilities.
  • Support the Information Security, Service Desk and System Administration teams with employee support and service requests as needed.
  • Assist the team in taking turns providing on-call support.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable of networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
  • Knowledgeable of telephony systems (VoIP, PBX, etc.).
  • Knowledgeable of server operating systems (Windows, Linux) and virtualization.
  • Ability to analyze network performance and implement improvements.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems, software, and communication platforms through a combination of self-study, on-the-job training, and vendor-led coursework.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Information Security topics related to providing secure, robust communication systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a small-team setting.
  • Job Related Travel - As required.

Education/Experience:

  • Education or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 2 plus years of progressively responsible experience providing direct networking support of Cisco, Fortinet, Juniper, F5, Palo Alto or related network systems.
  • Cisco Systems certification preferred but not required.
  • Fortinet experience preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Some standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending and lifting.
  • Must be able to lift up to fifteen (15) pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate credit union facilities.
