JOB SUMMARY

The Technology & Data Solutions (TDS) business unit is the Syneos Health accelerator for life sciences innovation. TDS houses our advanced technology acquisitions, homegrown products & applications, actively participates in new M&A and partnership activities, delivers critical insights as part of our integrated strategy for customers and drives enterprise-wide adoption and change management for innovative tech & data solutions. Our work supports getting meaningful new medicines to patients faster, with greater positive impact. The Director, Engineering supports our business goals by leading teams that produce high-quality solutions to address business and customer needs.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Manage teams of managers and engineers both onshore and offshore. Responsibilities include line management, performance management, and professional development for those employees along with interviewing and onboarding new team members.
  2. Own the department, manage global teams, and oversee all associated projects.
  3. Lead an engineering team to produce high quality, on-time solutions to address business needs.
  4. Curate, groom, prioritize and maintain the technical backlog.
  5. Participate in strategic planning with product management, engineering management, and technical leads.
  6. Drive technical decisions and work with your product managers to manage the backlogs to support multiple teams within the engineering organization.
  7. Oversee the technical architecture necessary for building client dashboards, completing data management and transfer projects, and developing custom tools.
  8. Oversee production schedules and test plans, documentation, and assembling presentation material that define project guidelines and milestones.
  9. Mentor and coach junior team members across the business.
  10. Bring global teams together for one goal.

Qualifications

What we're looking for

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Degree (BS/BA required, MS/MA preferred) in Information Systems or Management, Statistics, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or Engineering, or related field.
  2. Experience in a Solutions architect (or similar) role utilizing and leveraging dashboarding/reporting tools and database technologies (for example: Power BI, Tableau, Azure stack, Snowflake, etc.).
  3. Proven experience leading a high performing team and working across multiple stakeholders to deliver results while educating and growing team members. Global experience is preferred.
  4. Able to influence and unify the direct team and peers, as well as interact effectively as a strategic partner with senior management.
  5. Experience in architecting, designing, and implementing data-centric and/or software solutions.
  6. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Experience with healthcare marketing analytics, healthcare data (Rx, Medical claims) and common medical coding sets (ICD, HCPCs, NPIs).
