Percona is searching for a versatile and effective Senior Software Engineer to join its Global Advanced Services team. You will be responsible for database management and related solutions, working on both new feature implementation and bug resolution in close collaboration with our service teams.
You will have the flexibility to work from your home office, utilizing online tools and resources to contribute to a fast-paced and high-performing development environment for Percona and its customers. A reliable high-speed internet connection is necessary. You will have flexible work hours.
Tasks You'll Handle
- Designing, coding, implementing, and documenting improvements to a high standard
- Creating and submitting patches for review and performing periodic source code merges
- Conducting root cause analysis of defects impacting customers to offer optimal solutions
- Developing test cases for continuous integration deployment
- Participating in code and design reviews
- Diagnosing and rectifying defects
- Producing easily understandable documentation about your work that can be refined by our documentation team
- Sharing your expertise by attending and speaking at relevant conferences, writing blog posts about your work, and engaging in our public forums
- Providing Support to our Services Teams
Experience Needed
- A minimum of 4 years of hands-on, production experience as a developer, including familiarity with related tools/build processes (such as pip, make/Jenkins, containers) in Linux environments
- Self-motivated with a proven track record of exceeding expectations
- Experience in distributed system development and/or database-related development
- Proficiency in developer tools like git
- Skill in shell scripting
- Ability to work independently in a globally distributed organization
- Collaboration with open-source communities and colleagues through mailing lists, IRC, Slack, etc.
- Utilization of collaboration/tracking tools like Jira/Notion
- Effective communication skills in fluent English (speaking, listening, and writing)
- Quick learner and excellent team player
