Specialist Humanitarian

This role helps to foster self-reliance, care for the poor and the needy, and provide opportunities for giving and service by: helping members become economically and emotionally self-reliant; providing access to essential food and clothing items, helping members prepare for and respond to disasters;
and providing humanitarian aid to relieve suffering; thus furthering the mission of the Church.

This role administers Welfare Services programs, policies, and operations under the direction of the Area Welfare & Self-Reliance Manager and in harmony with the policies and direction of the Church General Welfare Services Committee.

• Develops and refines annual humanitarian plan
• Prepares and presents area initiative proposals to HQ or Area Authorities
• Oversees and monitors success of area initiatives and emergency response projects
• Oversees supervision and support of humanitarian missionaries serving within the Area
• Coordinates with HQ on major initiatives
• Helps to manage member participation in projects
• Builds and manages relationships with NGOs and government organizations/leaders with whom the church can coordinate regarding local humanitarian and emergency response efforts
• Consults with local leaders on preparedness efforts
• Carries out Church response efforts following disasters under the direction of the Area Presidency and DTA
• Ensures that all efforts comply with personnel, budgetary, and safety policies
• Detect opportunities and coordinate the work of SirveAhora and Youth Services Missionaries
• Bachelor's degree in related field
• 7+ years professional experience
• Management experience
• Experience in social work, social services, or with humanitarian program or project management
• Language skill appropriate to area
• English: Upper Intermediate (read, write and speak)
• Use of the Advanced Office package
• Image and video editing programs
• Availability to travel.
• Ability to relate to internal/external customer/supplier
